High school friend |
June 3, 2013 |
It's such a shock to browse on the web and come across the memorial page of someone I shared two of the best years of my life with in high school. I'm yet another person Jeanne blessed in our brief encounter, and I just can't believe she's no longer in this world. Jeanne, you'll always be in my memories. May your family find comfort in the knowledge that in every corner of the world, I'm sure someone has wonderful memories of you.

Such a friend! |

How does one begin? Where does one begin? What does one say? How does one comfort the family, friends, colleagues?
To quote the Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral who once said,
"Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well."
Amen to that!
